Hi! I’m Victoria,
I'm a self-taught artist based in South Florida.
I draw, paint, and craft, but my main specialty is hand-lettering and modern calligraphy.
I originally started off by making hand-lettered wedding signs in 2018. In 2020, when in-person events took a pause, I expanded my skills and taught myself how to do glass engraving. Now I also do on-site engraving for brand activations and private events, as well as commissions for personalized items and customized gifts.
I enjoy experimenting with different mediums and canvases; most recently, I've dabbled with wood-burning and glass painting. Outside of making art, I also have a penchant for perusing thrift shops and collecting pretty things. Eventually, I'd like to start making original artwork and maybe open my own little thrift shop...
But for now, my aim is to utilize my art and lettering skills to serve others.
Venus & Vanity
When I started out in 2018, I noticed a common thread among my clients: they wanted to have signs for their special day, but they didn't have the canvases on hand for me to make them. I wanted to find a way to reduce the waste of having clients buy brand new chalkboards, frames, and mirrors for a single-time use.
One lucky day, while treasure hunting through my local thrift store, I came upon a stunning antique mirror and the stars aligned when I realized I could combine my two passions by offering both my lettering skills and unique finds as canvas rentals.
Over time I've built a small collection of beautiful vintage and modern pieces to offer for event display, along with some pre-loved chalkboards and frames from previous events.
I'm constantly striving to learn more as an artist and I wanted a platform to channel all of my creative endeavors. Thus, Venus and Vanity was born.
The title, Venus & Vanity, is a play on the phrase "love and beauty" in combination with my nickname, Vee. Love is at the center of what I do. It's my driving force, my "why", my guiding light. I pour my heart into all that I do and I aspire to share that with others through the beauty of art and lettering.
